Upcoming Smartphones in April 2021: Redmi, Samsung, OPPO, Nokia, Sony, & more

Last month was one of the biggest ones in a while. We had so many events that it was a bit hard to keep count of the many devices that launched in the span of a month. Well, if you had thought of taking a breather, hold on, because we are back with yet another edition of Upcoming Smartphones April 2021 Edition.

As usual, we have entries from well-known brands like OPPO, Xiaomi, Redmi, realme, Nokia, and a few surprises from companies like Sony and TCL. So without wasting your time, let’s dive into it straight away.

1. Redmi Gaming Smartphone

Gaming smartphones have their own niche audience and companies like ASUS, Nubia, Black Shark never fail to tap into the excitement. However, they are going to have a new entry and probably a potential rival, Redmi.

Redmi’s Product Director Wang Teng has confirmed that the company will hold a launch event this month and rumors are rife that the star of the show could be the Redmi’s first gaming phone. So far, we know that a device with model number M2104K10C/M2104K10I under respective brands Redmi/POCO could be the upcoming device.

It is confirmed to feature MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset something that we saw in the likes of realme GT Neo as well.  

2. Samsung Galaxy F12, F02s


Samsung is beginning the month by launching two devices under the F-series- Galaxy F12, Galaxy F02s on April 5. Teasers so far hint that they share a lot of specs with the already launched Galaxy M12 and M02s.

The Galaxy F12 will feature a 6.5-inch Infinity-V 90Hz display, quad-cameras with 48MP ISOCELL GM2 main sensor. It is likely to feature an Exynos 850 chipset, 4/6GB RAM up to 128GB storage, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 6,000mAh battery with 15W charging.

The Galaxy F02s, on the other hand, is said to have a 6.5-inch display, Snapdragon 450 chipset, Triple-cameras with 13MP main sensor, 5,000mAh battery and is likely to launch at a lesser price tag than the Galaxy F12.

3. OPPO F19

OPPO unveiled the F19 Pro series last month in India. At the event, it teased that a non-Pro OPPO F19 would debut soon. Accordingly, the device is finally launching on April 6.

However, ahead of the official launch, the entire specs of the device have been revealed. As per the OPPO Nepal website, the OPPO F19 will feature a 6.43-inch FHD+ display,  Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 48MP quad-cameras, 16MP selfie shooter, 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging.

4. Nokia X10, X20, G10, G20, C20

HMD Global is holding an event on April 8 and it is expected to flag a new wave of Nokia smartphones under a different naming scheme.

The lineup is said to include X, C, and G-series of devices. So far, leaks say that the devices could be Nokia X10 & X20, G10 & G20, and an entry-level C20. The Nokia C20 is likely to sport a 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, run Android 11 OS, and come with an 89 euros price tag.

The X-series is said to be 5G-capable with both the X10 & X20 featuring Snapdragon 480 chipset and up to 6GB RAM. However, they are said to differ in storage, camera, display(6.2-inches on X20), and inturn price as well.

The Nokia G10 and G20 are said to share similarities with Nokia 5.4. Here, the G10 is expected to have a 6.4-inch HD+ display, Helio P22 chipset, 3/4GB RAM, 32/64GB storage, 48MP quad-camera, 4,000mAh battery with 10W charging.

However, the G20 could have improvements in cameras, and feature a powerful MediaTek chipset, 4/64GB storage and a 169 euros price tag.

5. Lenovo Legion 2 Pro

Lenovo will unveil the Legion 2 Pro in China on April 8. Compared to the standard variant, this will have a slightly bigger 6.92-inch 144Hz Samsung E4 AMOLED FHD+ display.

To compensate for the bezel-less, notch-less display, it is likely to have a selfie shooter on the side of the phone.

Under the hood, Master Lu benchmarks already reveal that it will sport Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB/16 RAM, 128/256/512GB storage, and run Android 11 OS. We can expect other specs like dual USB-C ports,  110W fast charging, and dual-turbo cooling fan.

6. realme C20, C21, and C25

realme has already unveiled realme C20, realme C21, and realme C25 in other markets and is finally bringing them to India on April 8.

All three smartphones sport a 6.5-inch LCD display. Here, the realme C20 and C21 have a Helio G35 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging while the realme C25 has a Helio G70 chipset. As for the optics, the realme C20 has a single 8MP rear and a 5MP selfie shooter.

The realme C21, C25 have AI triple-camera with 13MP f/2.2 primary, two 2MP rear sensors. Out of this, the realme C25 is said to come with a bigger 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging.

7. Sony Xperia 1 III, 10 III, Xperia Compact

Sony is hosting a new Xperia product launch on April 14 and it is expected to announce products like the Xperia 1 III, 10 III, and a compact device.

Among these, the flagship Xperia 1 III will likely feature a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED 120Hz display,  Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12/16GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, Triple-cameras with 64MP main, 12MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 60x lossless zoom, ZEISS T coating, 5,000mAh battery with 65W charging, and $1,370 price tag.

The mid-range Xperia 10 III could have a 6-inch screen, Snapdragon 690 chipset, sleek 8.4mm in thickness, triple-camera with 12MP main lens, 8MP selfie shooter. The Xperia compact, which may/may not launch is rumored to include the same chipset, camera but come with a smaller 5.5-inch screen.

8. TCL 20 Series


TCL Mobile has confirmed a global launch event on April 14 and it is expected to launch the remaining devices of the TCL 20 series. Back at CES 2021, it announced the series but only brought two devices- TCL 20 5G and TCL 20 SE.

The remaining devices are TCL 20L, TCL 20S, and TCL 20 Pro 5G. Not all information is available about the devices but looking at early teasers, it looks like the ‘Pro’ variant will have a curved display while the other two will have a flat panel.

Out of this, the TCL 20L has visited Bluetooth SIG and is likely to include three 20L Plus models. Nevertheless, we can expect a bigger battery, cameras, Bluetooth 5.0, and Android 11 OS on these devices.

9. Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra


Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 11 Ultra in China and global markets on March 29. A few days later, the company has confirmed that it is bringing the 2021 Super Phone to India on April 23.

The Mi 11 Ultra features a 6.8-inch E4 AMOLED QHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 888 chipset, 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256/512GB storage, triple-cameras with 50MP Samsung GN2 sensor, two 48MP ultrawide and TeleMacro sensors.

Other features include a 20MP selfies shooter, 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired & 67W wireless charging, NFC, 5G, and Android 11.

10. ZTE Axon 30 series

ZTE has already confirmed the Axon 30 series- Axon 30, Axon 30 Pro but hasn’t quite announced the launch date yet. However, it might get unveiled towards the fag end of April i.e, April 30 in China.

Out of this, the ZTE Axon 30 Pro 5G will have the world’s first second-generation under-display camera, snapdragon 888 chipset, Trinity triple-camera setup with three 64MP sensors, an auxiliary sensor, 55W charging, and more.

11. iQOO 7

iQOO India has been teasing a new smartphone launch supposedly the iQOO 7 for a while now but hasn’t quite confirmed a date yet. Reports say that the company is bringing the BMW M Motorsport edition as iQOO 7 Legend as well.

The device is likely to debut in India under the  ₹40,000($547) price tag. The iQOO 7, which has already launched in China, features a 6.62-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 888 with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage.

Other features of the iQOO 7 include a 48MP triple-cameras, 16MP selfie shooter, Monster touch, L-shaped VC plate for cooling, 4,000mAh battery, and Android 11 OS.

12. Other expected launches

13. realme 8 5G, realme 8i
realme has already confirmed that it will launch a 5G version of the realme 8 and a budget-friendly realme 8i in India. Out of this, the realme 8 5G has already stopped at FCC certification.
However, this launch might skipped to next month as well so take this with a pinch of salt.
Vivo V21 series
Vivo V21 series was rumored to come before in India but that hasn’t happened yet. The company had other ideas and brought a flagship X60 series to the country. However, it could soon launch one of the supposed members of the V21 series- Vivo V21 SE.

Reports reveal that it could be a rebadged version of the iQOO U3 which means it could come with a Dimensity 800U chipset with 5G support. Let’s hope that Vivo doesn’t skip any further.

Oppo A74 4G & 5G, A94 & A54 5G
OPPO is said to bring the remaining devices of the OPPO Axx series and it might happen this month. The company has already unveiled the OPPO A54 4G version already. Next in line could be the OPPO A74, A54, and A94 5G models.

The OPPO A74 4G is said to come in certain markets as rebranded OPPO F19 while the 5G version could have Snapdragon 480 chipset.

On the other hand, the OPPO A94 5G could be the OPPO F19 Pro+ 5G for Europe whereas OPPO A54 5G is said to be a rebadged version of OPPO A93 5G.

Huawei P50 series

When it comes to Huawei, things haven’t been so smooth lately. The company is struggling a lot to gather the supply chain after the US ban and it is hitting them hard. Previously rumored to come this month, the launch of the Huawei P50 series looks to be a far cry for now.

However, anything can happen in between so let’s hope that Huawei turns tables to come back stronger.
